Gum surgery and Gingivectomy
Gum surgery and Gingivectomy are dental procedures in which the periodontists excises and sculpts part of the gums in the mouth.
These procedures can provide better visibility and accessibility for complete calculus removal and thorough smoothing of the roots as well as creating a favorable environment for gingival healing and restoration of a physiologic gingival contour.
Muco gingival defects / Gingival recessions
Gingival recession is the exposure of more of the tooth or of the tooth’s root caused by a loss of gum tissue and/or retraction of the gingival margin from the crown of the teeth. The most common causes of gum recession may be an aggressive brushing or flossing, genetics causes and gingival type, abnormal tooth positioning, bruxism, iatrogenic factors, inflammation, trauma to gum tissue or poor oral health.
