Implantology

The dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is inserted into the jawbone (either the maxilla or the mandible) and can be considered for patients who are missing one or more teeth.

Nowadays it represents the best way to rehabilitate both the mechanical and aestethic aspects of the arch.

Depending on the number of teeth to replace, an artificial crown, a bridge (union of two or more crowns), a partial or full denture will be prepared and installed on the implants.

If you are missing all of your teeth, a full rehabilitation of the arch with implants is the best choice you can ask for; indeed it represents the most confortable and aestethic way to start smiling again. Depending on the number of implants placed, the connecting device that will hold your new teeth can be tightened down on the implant, or it may be a clipped to a bar, or an anchor to which a denture snaps on and off.

Dr Cicero is an expert in implant surgery, he uses the best materials and latest technologies to achieve the safest and most satisfying outcomes for the patient.

Peri-implantitis

Peri-implantitis represents an infectious disease that causes inflammation of the surrounding tissues of an already integrated dental implant, leading to the loss of supporting bone and eventually the loss of the implant itself.

Implant complications

They can be early or late.

Early stage complications may involve the maxillary sinus or the mandibular bone, including soft and hard tissues adjacent to the implant site. The most common causes are an excessively traumatic surgical approach, bone overheating during osteotomy, and bacterial contamination of the host site, clinically shown as infections, edema and sensory disorders.

Late-stage complications are the result of noxious events occurring during surgery or healing. They mainly concern osseointegrating implants and the surrounding bone tissue.

These implant complications are taken care by Dr. Cicero and resolved with cutting-edge protocols.
