Soft tissue regeneration

A patient can lose the soft tissue that surrounds teeth for a variety of reasons. The treatment for recreating lost soft-tissue of the gums can typically involve harvesting tissue from the roof of the mouth to augment the soft tissue defect in another location in the oral cavity or using Biomaterials that can regenerate new gum tissue.

In order to assure the best diagnosis and the best results, the patient will have a personal consult with Dr. Cicero that will go over the possible alternative procedures using the latest therapies and biomaterials.

Soft tissue grafting

Soft tissue grafting is generally necessary when there is a severe gum recession which can lead to a tooth root exposure. This situation is functionally and aesthetically uncomfortable and a soft tissue graft may be necessary to either cover the exposed root or to thicken the existing gum tissue in order to halt further tissue loss.

The Soft Tissue Grafting techniques are numerous and are based on the patient need to solve specific problems in the oral cavity. Dr. Cicero will choose the best and ideal techniques based on the patient’s current situation and needs.
